The Galveston Lab hosted an Ecopath Modeling Workshop for Analysis and Management of Estuarine Food Webs sponsored by the Galveston Bay Estuary Program, Texas Sea Grant, NOAA Fisheries at Galveston and Houston Advanced Research Center. The workshop was held from November 31st to December 3rd 2004. The purpose of the workshop was to give participants an overview and basic knowledge of the Ecopath with Ecosim approach and software; to introduce the newest developments in the software; to present methods, capabilities and limitations of the approach and software; to improve models participants may already have constructed; and to explore management options as part of an ecosystem approach to fisheries. The workshop was taught by Carl J. Walters and Villy Christensen from the University of British Columbia. Participants in the workshop were from NOAA Fisheries Galveston Laboratory, NOAA Fisheries Chesapeake Bay, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Unversity of Rhode Island-FAVS, McFarlane & Associates- Houston, University of Houston Clear Lake, CSIRO Australia, Houston Advanced Research Center, University of British Columbia, Texas A&M University College Station, SAFMC, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Texas A&M University Galveston, Rhode Island Sea Grant, Galveston Bay Estuarine Program, and Mexico.
